Addressing to the locations of Shillong and Laitumkhrah, Meghalaya, Saint Mary’s is an old college which was founded in 1937. This affiliated college which occupies a total land area of 15.99 acres got accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). With a strength of 2,633 students and faculty, of 84, the college has 24 courses to its bouquet spread across 7 degree programmes. Saint Mary’s College is one of the reputed college providing education in the field of Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Applications.
There are available facilities in Saint Mary’s is an Old College that are intended to improve the learning experiences and also promote the learning activities. The essential facility of the institution enables students, faculty, and the University community to access numerous books, encyclopedias, journals, as well as digital resources. Although the plans do not mention the number of seats available for each course, the total number of students that the college shall take is 2,633. This has led to the students being able to follow their dreams, the University offers a variety of courses that range from Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics to Economics to even Physics to Philosophy to list but a few.
At Saint Mary’s College, the admission requirement is open and based on merit but fails to explain the procedure of admission in detail. It is probable that the college takes academic achievement in the qualifying examinations as its principal determinant for admission. According to the year 2002, College alumni association called “Alumni Association of Saint Mary’s College” commonly abbreviated as AASMC occupies an important position in social networking of the former college students as well as in the development of college. - An Arts student securing a minimum of 45 % marks in aggregate at the Qualifying Board Examination and 45 % marks in the subject wished to offer as Honours are eligible to appear for the Entrance Test/ Interview in the subject of interest.
- An Arts/ Science/Commerce student securing 50% marks in the aggregate is eligible to appear for the entrance tests in the subject not offered at the Class XII Board Examination.
- To opt for English Honours students are required to secure 60 % marks in General English and 50 % marks in aggregate at the Qualifying Board Examination to be eligible to appear for the Entrance test in English.
- Students from Boards other than the Meghalaya Board of School Education are required to secure a minimum of 60 % marks in aggregate to be eligible for appearing in the entrance tests.
BA Economics Hons
- An Arts student securing a minimum of 45 % marks in aggregate at the Qualifying Board Examination and 45 % marks in the subject wished to offer as Honours are eligible to appear for the Entrance Test/ Interview in the subject of interest.

- For Honours in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Students are required to secure 50% marks in aggregate at the Class XII Science Board examination.

The candidates are required to have passed a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate at the Class XII Science Board examination and 45% marks in the subject desired to offer as Honours.
B.Sc Chemistry Hons
The candidates are required to pass a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate at the Class XII Science Board examination and 45% marks in the subject desired to offer as Honours.
B.Sc Mathematics Hons
- Required to have passed a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate at the Class XII Science Board examination and 45% marks in the subject desired to offer as Honours.
- To opt for Honours in Mathematics students are required to secure 60% in Mathematics at the Class XII Board Examination.

The candidates are required to pass a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate at the Class XII Science Board examination and 45% marks in the subject desired to offer as Honours.
