The School of Law is one of the newest and quickly developing legal educational institutions of IEC University, Baddi, which was founded in 2013 in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. This BCI-affiliated institute is a co-educational one and it provides everything from undergraduate to postgraduate programmes in law. The school recruits 4 strength of faculties and an overall students’ enrolment of 358 ; the overall students’ mix has a male student strength of 79% and the females make up the balance of 21%. The institute offers 8 courses for five degree programmes, focus on constitutional, criminal, business and intellectual property law.
The School of Law has a number of facilities, special equipments and amenities that will in one way or the other complement the learning process of the students. In its legal education, Indian Institute is equipped with a well furnished moot court as per BCI norms to make the students aware about the courtroom processes and demeanour. The school also operates a Legal Aid Clinic where those in need of legal services are offered free legal services and it also acts as a way of inculcating social justice in learners. It is an organized source of legal information comprising in excess of 30000 books and 100 journals; it contains 200 sitting capacity. It also subscribes customers to national appropriate scholarship, as well as national and international journals. The ingot structure is strong and equipped with 250 computers with internet connection; students therefore, are conversant with current developments in law.
The institute has various law courses that eliminate the need for students to attend other institution for further education. These are the five-year integrated undergraduate programmes: The BA LLB (Hons) and the B.Com LLB (Hons) and the three-year programme of LLB. The school for post graduate studies provides specialised Master of Laws in the following; Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Business Law and Computer and Intellectual Property Rights. Besides, for those interested in research, there’s also a Doctor of Philosophy in Law. The total approved intake for the undergraduate courses is 240 which has divided into B.COM LLB (Hons) -120, B.A LLB (Hons) -60, 3 year LLB -60.
Admission to the School of Law IEC University is done with a view to admitting only the best brains in law. In the undergraduate programme, the admission is conferred on the student’s performance in his 10+2 examinations, and may also write an entrance test or interview. The LLM programmes mostly assess the candidate’s performance from their previously obtained LLB degree. In order to apply for Ph.D. programme, the candidates should have obtained 55% in their master’s degree and pass an entrance examination. But candidates with CSIR/NET/JRF/SLET qualification or M.Phil accordance with UGC 2009 are not required to sit for the entrance examination.
IEC University Baddi has the largest number of out-students in the School of Law which is 78%. It thus makes the learning experience diverse as students get to learn from different cultures and or experiences. It also has hostel facilities for boys and girls for out station students. The School of law, IEC University has designed a rigorous curriculum with an emphasis on experiential learning and modern infrastructure to form future generations of legal professional.

BA LLB Hons
The candidate should be passed a Minimum aggregate of 45% (40% in case of SC/ST) or equivalent IN 10+2 from a recognized University.
LLB
The Candidate should have passed their Graduation or Post Graduation degree in any stream not less than 45% for the General category,42% for OBC Category, and 40% for SC/ST Category from a recognized Institution/University.
B.Com LLB Hons
- Seeking admission into a 5-year law course only the 10th and 12th qualification suffices with the 10th being the basic qualification for seeking admission into the 5-year law course.
- The qualifications for 10th and 12th may be obtained through any mode (distance/correspondence / open schooling method).
- And the Pass percentage is 45% for the general category, 42% for the OBC category, and 40% for SC/ST category.
LLM Constitutional Law
The Candidates who have passed LL. B. or an equivalent examination recognized by UGC securing a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in aggregate of total marks can apply.
LLM Criminal Law
The Candidates who have passed LL. B. or an equivalent examination recognized by UGC securing a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in aggregate of total marks can apply.
LLM Business Law
The Candidates who have passed LL. B. or an equivalent examination recognized by UGC securing a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in aggregate of total marks can apply.
LLM Intellectual Property Rights
The Candidates who have passed LL. B. or an equivalent examination recognized by UGC securing a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in aggregate of total marks can apply.
Ph.D Law
- Master’s Degree holders satisfying the criteria stipulated under Clause 2 above.
- Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated program. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
- A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. program of the same Institution.
- Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
