Scottish Church College was established in 1830 and founded by Revd. Dr Alexander Duff. Currently, the college is under the ownership and administration of the Church of North India (CNI). Scottish Church College is a government-aided institution. It has been granted Re-accreditation as a Grade 'A' Institution (3rd Cycle) by NAAC.

Scottish Church College is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Scottish Church College in Kolkata provides undergraduate programmes such as BA (Hons), B.Sc (Hons), B.Com (Hons), B.Ed (for females only), and BBA.
