SDM College of Medical Sciences and hospital Sattur is also known as SDMC Dharwad this medical college is established in 2003. Situated at Dharwad, Karnataka, this constituent college spreads in 65 acres of land. The institute is NIC recognized NMC) and provides a range of medical curricula. The intake capacity of the college for students is 688 and the faculty members are 257 at present and it is suitable for medical course. Currently college and has 29 courses ranging from 4 levels of degree programmes in order to meet the various specialisations in the areas of medicine.
SDM College of Medical Sciences has numerous amenities to aid its operations in the academic oval. The campus also has separate hostels for boys and girls having provisions of reading room telephone and other indoor and outdoor games facilities. A fully serviced library with national and international subscription to books, journals, magazines and newspapers provides students and faculty with new information in the medical field. Medical check ups and vaccination regimes as part of student health care also form part of the college’s strategy in the health sector. Besides, in SDMC Dharwad well equipped IT infrastructure, and playing fields, a cafeteria, an alumni meet hall etc are available. The Banking The Banking facility with Syndicate Bank branch and Campus for ATM both from Syndicate Bank and the SBI serves the needs of students and staff.
SDMC Dharwad has undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma medical courses available in its college’s curriculum. There is MBBS flagship programme which has 150 seats of students intake, there is numbers of post-graduate courses MD, MS etc which provide training in various medical disciplines. The college also offers Diploma programmes in subjects as Public Health, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Operation Theatre Technology. Altogether the institute teach 29 courses comprising of 1 undergraduate, 22 postgraduate courses, and 6 diploma courses. Most of these are full time programmes to guarantee global professional and concentrated medical education.
But the admissions in the SDMC Dharwad college is primarily done through the all India common entrance test. For Medical students especially for MBBS the respective course admission is through through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG). For the admission to the MD and MS courses the students are selected through NEET PG examination. NEET UG and NEET PG scores are considered for admission to the college to maintain merit based admission criteria only. It normally follows the planned annual medical education calendar of the country and the admission is mostly done after the announcement of ex-entrance examination results. Unfortunately, the institute does not disclose specific information on scholarship but the institute has a track of record of sponsoring deserving students. It is reported that many successful alumni have come out of SDMC Dharwad and have made brilliant impacts to the course of medicine though the listing of such personalities have not been revealed in the existing records.

MBBS
He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of admission to the MBBS course;
He/she has passed qualifying examination as under:-
The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education;
Note: Where the course content is not as prescribed for 10+2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates will have to undergo a period of one year pre-professional training before admission to the medical colleges;
or
The intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject;
or
The pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination, or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/pre-medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as a compulsory subject;
or
The first year of the three years degree course of a recognized university, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in three subjects provided the examination is a 'University Examination' and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course;
or
B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc examination with not less than two of the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects-Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
or
Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects and English.
