Consequently, Seshasayee Institute of Technology (SIT) Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu established in 1952 is an autonomous institution. Recognized by AI CTE, SIT provides choice of diploma and post-diploma courses in various faculties of engineering. The institute occupies the area of 12.676 acres, with total enrolments of 1006, including the faculty members of 18. SIT offers seven full-time diploma courses in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Civil, Computer Engineering and Paper Technology.

They are Diploma in Mechanical engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering Civil engineering, Computer engineering, Instrumentation and control engineering, Paper technology and post Diploma in Plant engineering. The normal time taken to complete most diploma courses is three years, except for the Diploma in Paper Technology.
