VI Institute of Technology, Kancheepuram (VIIT) is a certified institution and was started in the year 2009. Sited in Chengalpattu-Thiruporur Highway, Sirukundram, affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University, this college spread across 10.46 acres of land. For the said discipline of engineering, the VIIT is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute provides education in 6 courses of total 2 degrees with total admitted students 385 and faculty members 78. VIIT offers multiple streams at the undergraduate level: The Computing Science, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, and Civil engineering, Post Graduate: The Masters in Embedded System Technology.
VIIT has a number of facilities that are current to facilitate its academic activities. The library is mini university and contains more than 10 000 volumes of books and subscription to more than 25 international and 47 national journals. Students are endowed with computer networks, high speed internet connectivity within the institution. The college easily fulfills the objective of the development of the students thus providing first-class sporting amenities for indoor and outdoor sports.
Annually, there are sports weeks that include track and field measures together with indoor games such as chess and carrom. For those in need of-hostel-need, VIIT offers both the Management and separate hostels for boys and girls. These hostels are planned to provide comfortable living conditions with large over-head fans, sufficient light and ventilation, and some other basic facilities foreseen such common rooms, internet facilities with broadband connection, reading rooms etc.
To enhance the transport facilities coming college runs its own transport from different parts of Chennai, still it is in its planning stages Guindy, Chennai Beach, Kalpakkam, Velachery, and Madhuranthagam via Chengalpet. This service will help the students to achieve the much needed inexpensive and versatile means of transport. The facility also has a health cetre with professional doctors for student care during working days. In academic and professional front, there is celebration of various events & seminars in the auditorium of VIIT where a student also gains knowledge over and above the classroom learning.
VI Institute of Technology has in its portfolio a total of 6 courses with all courses being full time. These are 5 BE undergraduate programmes and 1 ME postgraduate programme. The BE programmes are offered in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering branches. ME programme offered at the university has a specialisation on Embedded Systems Technologies. ME Embedded Systems Technologies has been approved the student intake of 18. Full-time and regular courses make the institute serious in addressing comprehensive and intensive education in different engineering fields.

Admissions to the VI Institute of Technology are based on the form filled and submitted to the Institute. The Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA-PG) applies to the postgraduate ME Embedded Systems Technologies course offered by the college.
