Shiva Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET), was inaugurated in the year 2009, as an educational institute in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college provides various programs in engineering with various specialties. well developed and located in a spacious 3.01 acre compound, Currently, it has developed an academic environment that fosters academic success and every round development. The institute admits 428 students in total and has 37 faculty members that guarantee individual focus and high academic achievements. As a faculty member of SIET, I found that the institution provides 14 courses in two different degrees for the engineering students who want to set their foot in civil, mechanical, computer science, and electrical and electronics engineering streams.

The institute has numerous facilities to support students’ learning and holistic development have been developed to support learning. The campus includes well-equipped laboratories in compliance with the contemporary standards such as Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. The edifice comprises a full stocked library with over 2000 titles and fifty national as well as international research journals for students to read. All the classrooms, library and proctorial facilities of the academic complex provide Wi-Fi facilities so that the learning process can take place anytime and anywhere. From the point of view of physical health, SIET now has a gym that accommodates all types and equipment required for fitness exercises as well as courts for Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Tennis. The institute also possesses its own hostel facilities for both boys and girls with other facilities like solar based water heaters and internet connections.

The engineering programs offered at SIET are as follows: These courses showcase the wide enginearlng spectrum to meet student’s interest and the need of the market. The institute offers a total of 14 courses comprising of full-time B. Tec programs as well as Diploma courses in basically all branches of engineering. The offered B.Tech programs are of four years duration as for the Diploma programs they are of three years duration.

This has lead to the development of admission process policy that will be favorable to the merit of the students intending to join SIET. In B. Tech admissions 50% seats are from JEE Main and other 50% are from the merit of HPCET. This way of admission guarantees that the school will get a variety of students but of great ability. The institute accepts scores from two popular entrance exams: JEE Main and HPCET.
