Sri Venkateswara College of Education for Women, established in the year 2007 in Karaikal, is one of the emergent and leading educational institutions in the union territory of Puducherry. This affiliated college is one of the best colleges approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to shape the future of many aspiring educators. Founded on a plot of 5.41 acres, the facility provides a favourable climatic environment for learning. In this college, to provide practical experiences, there are facilities of a mathematical lab, a science lab, a technology lab, an art and work Experience Lab, and a lab. These facilities gives practical lessons to the students on what they intend to major in. Student welfare is also accorded the highest priority, that’s why the institution has separate facilities for boys and girls hostels for those who come from distant parts of the country. As an added incentive for transport, the college runs bus services from other towns and this makes education reachable with ease by most students.

Sri Venkateswara College of Education is in the business of offering teacher education as its principal academic offering. The college only has one programme of study, a four-year programme leading to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This two-year full-time course has an approved intake of one hundred, which also supports the institutions vision of preparing quality teachers. The B.Ed. programme has been prepared in a way that would endow the students with the ability and practical knowledge which could facilitate them in teaching profession.
