Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology (SVCET) was started in the year 1999 and is located in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. One of the affiliated colleges for this university, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), it deals with the engineering and management courses. SVCET occupies a total of 27.28 acres of land and has a total enrolment of 1144 students and 127 faculty members. 16 courses are offered by the college in six degree programmes that include AI and Data Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, and so on.

SVET’s commitment is to provide the student with a wholesome learning environment with most of the facilities identified and provided to help the students excel in all aspects of life. The college provides segregated laboratories for each department and makes it easier for the students to practice. A resourceful, fully equipped, up-to-date knowledge centre holds over 42000 volumes and 12312 titles and subscribes to various national and international journals. Other resources, such as ASME, DEL, and IEEE online journals, are other enlightening tools for both the students and the faculty members. For those who seek accommodation, SVCET has available and spacious hostels that are segregated for male and female students and are provided with fully furnished accommodations.

Further, SVCET follows the policy of students’ overall development. The college has very good facilities for sports and has a well-stocked and equipped playground for modern play items. There is a professional sports personality with the responsibility to teach the students on various sporting disciplines. For those who have an interest in exercise and bodybuilding, the college offers the facility of a good gym. The institute also has an alumni association to assure interaction between the past and present students, where they source their grounds for mentorship and job connections.

Realising the value of transport convenience, SVCET owns twenty operational buses across the various routes, such as Thiruvallur, Chennai, Perambakkam, Uthukottai, and Thiruttani. This transport facility can help the students and staff of the institution enjoy easy transportation to the campus. Further, the college has a clean and standard canteen within its compound to provide quality foods and beverages to the learners and teaching fraternity.

The institute has 16 courses in total in which they provide both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. These include various full-time engineering programmes like B.E/B.Tech., BBA, ME/M.Tech, BCA, and an MBA courses. It has an overall approved annual student capacity of 1,114 students for all its courses. The courses are BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, ME in Computer Science and Engineering and so on. 

In order to join, SVCET provides several ways and a smooth admission process that is simple and fair at the same time. For engineering programmes, the college accepts CEETA-PG Exam Scores, among others, and this is an addendum to the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission Exam. This test acts as a way of determining their expertise and ability to handle places of higher learning among potential intakes. Regarding the 12th standard or equivalent examination, the college also takes into account the academic performance of the students in relevant subjects offered during the academic year. For the MBA programme, except for specific examination details, it is known that the scores from tests such as CAT, MAT, or state-level entrance tests are taken into consideration by the management programmes.
