St. Aloysius College Autonomous Mangaluru was founded in 1880 as a premier institution situated in the state of Karnataka. This coeducational college has a total land area of 64 acres and provides 13 degree courses with 96 courses. The college currently has a total student population of 7,112 students and 300 members of staff with 52% females and 48% male students. St. Aloysius College is well recognised for its academic performance and has been ranked 58th in the NIRF 2024 college category. It has specifically earned accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), in this case highlighting quality learning.
St. Aloysius College offers numerous quality facilities fully equipped to complement the learning and development of students in college. The library, with more than 85 000 books and a number of bound volumes of journals, maintains a comfortable learning atmosphere. Sophisticated laboratories include the computer science laboratory, the botany laboratory, the chemistry laboratory, and the physics laboratory, amongst others.
In the field of extracurricular activities, just as in the curricular, the college pays considerable emphasis to the physical and recreation facilities, including the indoor and outdoor sports. Students can use more than two hundred and seventy computers in fully air-conditioned laboratories so that they can be in tune with the world's technological growth. The campus also has accommodation for boys and girls, a health centre, a gym, and a number of auditoriums for different activities and events.
Consequently, St. Aloysius College offers full time undergraduate and post graduate programmes as well as certification courses in its curriculum. The institution offers ninety six programmes across the pdf disciplines thus making it possible for students with different passions and aims in their career to enrol. Candidates who have passed the three-year B.A. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto with English as the major/optional/special subject are eligible for the programme provided they have secured a minimum of 45% (40% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in English. Candidates who have passed the respective language/literature as a minor subject or first/second language /additional English at the degree level are also eligible provided they have secured not less than 60% marks in aggregate in the respective minor subject, first/second language/additional English. These marks are to be equated with the marks of optional English (the cognate subject) as follow:
- 60% in English as the first/second language is equal to 45% of optional English (the cognate subject.
- 60% in English as a minor subject/additional English is equal to 48% of optional English (the cognate subject).

M.Sc Analytical Chemistry
Candidates who have passed the three year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto with Chemistry as optional/major/special subject with a minimum of 45% (40% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the subject are eligible for the programme provided they have studied Physics and Mathematics as optional /major /special/minor/subsidiary subjects either at B.Sc. or at P.U.C./Higher Secondary level.
