Swami Vivekanand Institute of Medical Science, Basti, is one of the premier institutions started in the year 2015, situated at the centre of Uttar Pradesh. Located in Rithiya known affiliated college, it has very recently emerged as an excellent institute specialising in the field of pharmacy education. Being a proud member of PCI and AICTE, it is undeniably one of the best examples of quality education in this field in the region. The college offers two pharmacy courses.
Swami Vivekanand Institute of Medical Sciences has a variety of facilities that support the learning of the institute’s students that are in line with advanced world technologies. At the core of these is a large library measuring 1618 sq. ft. This knowledge centre contains selected 770 volumes and 77 titles in the pharmaceutical sciences and its allied fields as well as national and international journals. Boasting over 60 students, it provides students a calm area to study or work on research.
Swami Vivekanand Institute of Medical Sciences also boasts well-equipped laboratories that improve students' learning through practical experience which is so important in college and future careers. In this case, a cafeteria for the provision of moments of relaxation and refreshment accommodates both the staff and the students. The institute also adheres to modern education systems and has impressive IT systems that students can use to keep up to date with modern trends in their line of study. The campus auditorium is used to host events and seminars that are in line with the academic calendar contributing to the learning activities.
As of now, Swami Vivekanand Institute of Medical Sciences has a niche training model and its core programme is Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma). This is a two-year full course programme approved to recruit 60 students. As it is now the institute offers only two programmes but it shows that the institute has focused efforts on providing proper pharmaceutical training. The other programme is B.Pharma course.
