The Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) was approved in 1975 a premier institution located in Cuttack ,Odisha. This co-educational institute located in a 16.5-acre area provides rehabilitation training and sponsoring research facility. SVNIRTAR teaches 7 unique programmes focusing on distinctive areas of rehabilitation, with overall enrolment of 911 students. It has a proper place to teach and it has adequate number of teaching faculties with 39 members in the institute. Being an affiliated college SVNIRTAR aims at offering broad courses of physiotherapy Occupational therapy and prosthetics and orthotics at the under graduate and post graduate levels.
Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research has several amenities which enhance students learning and other character development programmes. The eating habits are also well catering where the boys and girls are provided with very comfortable hostels to live in. Modern students blended libraries are essential resources for both students and faculty whose main functions are to store, organise, and disseminate knowledge. The campus has fully equipped laboratories for practical sessions including skills lab, an event hall for Seminars and conferences, computerised infrastructure. The SVNIRTAR provides physical well-being amenities such as gym facilities and equipment in sports. The institute also has a health centre to address emergencies, cafeteria to provide for its students’ meals – and some of the guest rooms for the visiting faculties as well as their families.
The institute has 6 full time courses out of which, 3 are Undergraduate courses and 4 are Post Graduate courses. At the undergraduate level SVNIRTAR also offers Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO). The postgraduate programmes include MPT, MOT, MPO, and DNB in PM & R. The total approved intake for these courses is 212 seats BPT and BOT having higher intake of 62 each and BPO having 46 intake.
The admission to SVNIRTAR is very selective and many students apply for it. For undergraduate programmes (BPT, BOT, BPO,) for SVNIRTAR, CET test is being conducted jointly with National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities NILD Kolkata. The MPT, MOT, and MPO admission is based on an All-India Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) conducted by the Institute under the Chairmanship of Director. In addition to UG courses, SVNIRTAR uses the NEET PG scores for the relevant postgraduate courses as well. Continuation: As per the reservation policy of the Government of India the institute still maintains the diversification of students in its premises. Concerning the scholarships there were no precise details available however affiliation of the institute with the government can chime scholarships for the deserving students.

BPT
The minimum entry qualification for these courses is passing in 10+2 examination in science stream with three subjects or its equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks for general candidates and 40% for scheduled castes / scheduled tribes/ physically handicapped candidates in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Pass in English as one of the subjects is compulsory.
BOT

The minimum eligibility for admission is a 10+2 examination in science or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology with a minimum score of 40% for the General category and 40% for SC/ST/PH candidates. Pass in English as one of the subjects is compulsory.
MPT
Candidates admitted into the Master in Physiotherapy course should have passed the BPT degree examination of the University of Health Sciences or an examination of any other university accepted by the authority of this university as equivalent thereto.
MOT
The candidate should have a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) degree from a recognized university shall be eligible for the course.
