TNSA, Tamil Nadu School of Architecture Coimbatore has been established in the year 2006, is an affiliated college. Located in Karumathampatti, part of the TCE Campus, this is a co-educational institution that offer architectural education. TNSA has been recognised by the Council of Architecture which envisages the quality of Architecture education. To be more precise, the area of the campus is 3 acres that serve a good purpose for students’ learning and development. Though TNSA provides education to only 143 students, they have hired 20 members of faculty, which means they follow proper student teacher ratio facilitating one to one interaction and guidance.
Tamil Nadu School of Architecture has numerous facilities that make the entire experience of learning easier for the students. This college has a well illuminated central library with adequate number of sitting capacity along with department wise libraries are deepening with books related to architectural and allied stream. Departmental requirements are provided in modern laboratories and there is an ample 1500 seating capacity of full fledged auditorium with acoustics and Wi-Fi backup if required.
The computer building has the facility of a canteen that provides good quality food more or less at subsidised rates; there is also an R.O plant that provides drinking water. TNSA offers a health centre which has a first aid station, a gym and adequate amenities for sporting activities both indoors and outdoors. The college also provides common men hostel separately for boys and girls within the college campus for out-station students to stay securely.
The mission of Tamilnadu School of Architecture is on delivering education for the architectural profession. It has only one complete time course offered and that is the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme. This programme of five years has an allowed intake capacity of forty seats this testifying to the institute’s policy of controlling the size of classes with a view to ensuring that quality in delivery of education is sustained. The curriculum of B.Arch at TNSA has been developed for those students who want to get a successful job as an architect.
The admission criteria of TNSA’s B.Arch programme is mainly through national level entrance test. Applicants must to qualify either the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) or the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) (Architecture) for admission into the college. These tests also examine the abilities of the candidates concerning the subjects that are put into practice in architecture curriculum.
TNSA along with accepting scores of NATA also allows candidates to use their JEE Main scores for its application. The fact that the institute offers preparation for these nationally administering exams can keep the student populate high quality with architectural ability potential. A Candidate who has completed their 10+2 Examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
Diploma holders in relevant disciplines are also eligible to apply.
