Tata Institute of Social Sciences TISS, Hyderabad was established in 2011. Tata Institute of Social Sciences has several campuses across India - TISS Mumbai, TISS Guwahati, TISS Tuljapur. The Tata Institute of Social Sciences was established in 1936 named as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. Later, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 1944. The institute was declared as deemed to be a university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC), 1956.
TISS Hyderabad offers postgraduate, diploma and doctoral courses in arts, humanities and social sciences. The PG programmes offered by TISS Hyderabad are MA Public Policy and Governance, MA Women's Studies, MA Education, MA Development Studies, MA Natural Resources and Governance and others. MA Gender and Development
A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree of 3 years duration (B.A. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
MA Education
A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree of 3 years duration (B.A. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
MA Natural Resources and Governance
A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree of 3 years duration (B.A. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
Ph.D Social Sciences
The minimum academic qualification for admission to the Ph.D. programs is a Second Class Master’s or equivalent degree in the relevant subject awarded by a recognized university in India or abroad, with at least an average of 55 percent of aggregate marks, or a grade point average of 3.5 under the seven-point scale of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In the case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates, the minimum eligibility is an average of 45 percent of aggregate marks or a grade point average of 2.5 under the seven-point scale of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
2. Candidates who have an M.Phil or equivalent degree awarded by a recognized university in India or abroad are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. Program.
