The college named as Tura Government College was set up in 1958 in Tura, the head quarter of West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya state of India. This affiliated college having its campus spread over 19 acres has been imparting education to the students for more than six decades. The college is NAAC accredited and is multi-faceted and providing several undergraduate courses in both arts, science, and commerce streams. The total student strength of the college is 3882 but the faculty of the college is quite limited having only eighty members that enable an effective environment for growth of the students.
In this section, Tura Government College has been equipped with variety of facilities that seeks to complement the learning process of students. The library facility with a Librarian and Vice Librarian has a wide number of books, periodicals, journals, newspapers and reference books. It also has book bank facilities and the library has computers and broadband connection as a source of effective utilisation. This college has special attention and has facilities for different games suitable for athletes these include; badminton, volleyball, cricket, football as well as basketball facilities. Indoor games facilities and basketball court available in the campus to meet all the sport and games lovers need. The college also has well facilitated laboratory for practical, an auditorium to conduct event and seminars, and a canteen to handle snacks.
Tura Government College offers a total of 16 courses across three degree programmes: BA, B.Sc and B.Com programmes are most popular among university degrees for arts, science and commerce respectively. All courses are full-time and take three years to complete: The college offers numerous specialisations in arts and science domains, which makes students guided in their choices of focus areas. As for the specificity of the number of seats for each selected course the overall strength of college is 3882.

Students who have passed plus 2(10+2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board in India or abroad which is considered equivalent by the University shall be eligible for admission into the First Semester of the Honors Degree Course.
B.Com Hons
Students who have passed plus 2 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from any stream from a recognized Board in India/abroad have the option to change to Arts Stream and the students from the Science stream has the option to change to Commerce stream only.
B.Sc Chemistry Hons
Students who have passed plus 2(10+2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board in India or abroad which is considered equivalent by the University shall be eligible for admission into the First Semester of the Honors Degree Course.
