University College of Science, Technology and Agriculture or UCSTA is a renowned college under the University of Calcutta. The institution is the premier school of science and technology founded in 1914. Sprawling over a lush green campus of 119.7 acres in the heart of Kolkata, Vegan Campus at UCSTA. It is affiliated to University of Calcutta, Kolkata and recognized by the UGC, having been approved by AICTE.
UCSTA is proud to have cutting-edge facilities that support its teaching and research efforts. This includes a central college library, five campus libraries and forty departmental libraries located throughout eight primary campuses. It welcomes hundreds of students daily as a repository of over 8 lakh books and 1.5 lakh bound journals which they depend on for seeking information about their field or assignments etcetera, with an accountability to foster more than thousands faculty members too; You can well guess the use it holds today! It also permits the access of over 7,000 electronic journals and 58,000 e-books making Wits one step ahead in research and learning. With state of the art laboratories for all departments, students get to experience first hand practical application.
The college offers 80 courses, in total, divided out on multiple disciplines spanning across nine degree programs. These cover areas like Engineering, Technology, Science and Agriculture across undergraduate through doctoral programs. B.Tech programmes explore a variety of specializations' such as Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering. UCSTA provides a wide variety of M.Tech, M.Sc and MCA programs at postgraduate level. The college also provides Ph. Doctoral programs for students more likely to pursue careers in research and the academy.
Admission to UCSTA follows a rigorous, merit-based process. For B.Tech programs, admission relies heavily on scores from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). M.Tech admissions, on the other hand, consider Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores. The college also evaluates scores from other relevant entrance exams for different courses.
