One such educational institute is Uttaranchal College of Science and Technology, popularly known as UCST. This affiliated college was started in 2001 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The campus is situated in Nagal Hatnala, P.O. Kulhan Sahastradhara Road, and has served higher education for more than twenty years. UCST offers very diversified programs with a total of 24 courses in 10 different degrees. The college lays great emphasis on the imparting of quality education in the fields of Science, Technology, Management, and Agriculture.

These comprise the very famous programs like B.Sc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Information Technology, Agriculture, and Forestry; BBA, BCA, B.Com, and B.F.A. at the undergraduate level. Amongst its postgraduate courses are M.Sc programs in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Physics, Zoology, Environmental Science, Information Technology, and Agronomy, amongst many others. It also offers BHA and MHA and MA in Mass Communication. All are full-time programs with an emphasis on overall development in the field of interest.

M.Sc Biotechnology
A candidate must have passed Bachelor's Degree under a 10+2+3 pattern of education with Chemistry/Botany/Zoology or Microbiology or Biotechnology or Biochemistry or Genetics or B.Sc. MLT/MBBS/B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. (PCM) or Equivalent Degree in science.
M.Sc Bioinformatics
A candidate must have passed M.Sc. in any subject /BCA/ MCA/M.Sc. IT/B.Sc. MLT/M.Sc, MLT/MBBS/ B.V.Sc./ B.Sc. (CBZ/PCM) or Equivalent Science Degree with 50% marks (SC/ST 45%).
M.Sc Chemistry
A candidate must have passed Bachelor’s Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education i.e. B.Sc.(CBZ/PCM) or Equivalent Degree with Chemistry as main subject with at least 50% marks (SC/ST:45%).
M.Sc Microbiology
A candidate must have passed Bachelor’s Degree under a 10+2+3 pattern of education with Chemistry /Botany/ Zoology or Microbiology or Biotechnology or Biochemistry or Genetics or B.Sc. MLT /MBBS/B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. (PCM) or Equivalent Degree in science.
M.Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry
A candidate must have passed B.Sc. (CBZ/PCM) or equivalent Degree with chemistry as the main Subject with at least 50% marks (SC/ST: 45%)
M.Sc Physics
A candidate must have passed B.Sc. PCM or Equivalent Degree with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects with min 50% marks (SC/ST 45%)
M.Sc Zoology
A candidate must have passed B.Sc. CBZ or Equivalent Degree with Zoology as main subject with min. 50% marks (SC/ST 45%).
M.Sc Environmental Science
A candidate must have passed B.Sc. CBZ /PCM or Equivalent Degree with Chemistry/Botany/Zoology/ Agriculture / Biochemistry or any other branch as the main subject(s) with min. 45% marks (SC/ST 40%).
M.Sc Information Technology
A candidate must have passed a Graduate Degree in Any subject with min 50% mark (SC/ST 45%).
