Vallabh Government College, Mandi has been established in 1948, is one of the renowned colleges situated in the Himachal Pradesh India. NAAC approved affiliated college offering various undergraduate and post graduate programmes. This college has total of 673 students and faculty members are 90 and this college offers good academic life. Currently the school is having 2,543 male students and 3,608 female students, a rather good gender balance. The institute provides 15 courses in 11 degree programmes, in discipline of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Computer Application, etc.
Computer acquisition enhances the learning environment of the college by providing facilities to its students. This learning institution boasts a library which contains 38184 books, 12 newspapers and 40 journals and Magazine for students to peruse on. Indeed it has undertaken to have a Book-Bank to help the underprivileged SC/ST students. Sports lovers can make full use of all the great features that the college provides such as a basketball court which is floodlit, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho as well as handball. An extraordinary feature is an IT infrastructure: there is a computer lab providing practical training for nearly 4 000 students specialising in computer engineering and information technologies. Physics, Chemical, Botany, Zoology, Geography, I.T, Language, Education Technology, Music laboratories with all modern apparatus and music instruments facilitate practical learning. The college also houses a canteen, health centre and first aid, and a well facilitated Gymnasium.
The courses offered by Vallabh Government College are as follows so that the students get to experience the best chances of fertility. The institute on offer 15 courses of which 12 are full time and 3 are self financing. Chicken to broaden the scope, the one offers Bachelor’s degree courses (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Ed, B.Voc), Master’s degree courses (M.Com, MA in English, Economics, Hindi, Political Science, M.Sc Mathematics) and Post Graduate Diploma in computer Applications (PGDCA). The total student intake is scalable depending on the programme to offer; however, certain courses including B.Ed Self Finance and BCA Self Finance a nominal approval of intakes 100 and 60 students respectively.
The structural design of admission procedures at Vallabh Government College is different from course to course. Most of the programmes offered at the undergraduate level such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com etc have admissions solely on the merit on the previous qualifying examination. Nevertheless, for self-finance students like BCA and BBA courses, the management conducts a written examination. Like GMAT, this test has 100 questions, which sum up to 100 marks and takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete The test includes Maths which is 40% of the test Logical Ability 40% English and General Awareness 20%. The PGDCA programme also include a competitive written entrance test as a basic admission criteria. For post graduate courses, the admission is normally done on the basis of marks scored by the candidate in the examination that he is qualifying for. The college also maintains the minimum eligibility as prescribed by the Himachal Pradesh University for all the programmes offered by the college.

The institute provides scholarship grants to those in need of an opportunity. In the academic year 2022, a significant number of students received reimbursements: number of cases in one year post graduate programme is 39 students out of 51, and in two year post graduate programme number of cases is 302 out of 392 undergraduate students there are 3,267 out of 5,708 students. - A candidate who has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination can get admission in the 1st year of three years degree course of B.A.
- An applicant must not be more than 23 years of age (25 yrs. in case of girl students) on 1-07-11. The upper age limit is relaxable by three years for SC/ST candidates.
- Minimum percentage of marks for admission to the Ist year of B.A. is 33%.
- If a candidate intends to take up Mathematics in B.A. I he/she should have studied Mathematics at 10+2 level and secured either 45% marks in Mathematics or 50% marks in aggregate.
MA English
- Candidates who have passed B.A/B.Sc./B.Com/B.se (Agri), B.Sc (Home Science), B.Sc (Engg.) M.B.B.S./B.A./M.S/G.A.M.S./B. Pharma/B.T. or B.Ed./B.Lib. Sc./Vashistha Degree of a university established by law in India with at least second division (50% marks) in aggregate or 45% marks or honors in the subject in sought, are eligible.
- A candidate who has passed B.A Pass course examination with atleast 45% marks in public Administration or Sociology shall be eligible for admission to M.A. in Political Science. Relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility for admission is given to the SC/ST candidate.
MA Economics
- Candidates who have passed B.A/B.Sc./B.Com/B.se (Agri), B.Sc (Home Science), B.Sc (Engg.) M.B.B.S./B.A./M.S/G.A.M.S./B. Pharma/B.T. or B.Ed./B.Lib. Sc./Vashistha Degree of a university established by law in India with at least second division (50% marks) in aggregate or 45% marks or honors in the subject in sought, are eligible.

B.Com

- An applicant seeking admission in B.Com. 1st year must have passed 10+2 in commerce or should have studied Mathematics/Economics as compulsory subject at 10+2 level.
- In case of S.C. and S.T. candidates the minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.Com. 1st is relaxable by 5%.
M.Com
Candidates who have passed B.A/B.Sc./B.Com/B.se (Agri), B.Sc (Home Science), B.Sc (Engg.) M.B.B.S./B.A./M.S/G.A.M.S./B. Pharma/B.T. or B.Ed./B.Lib. Sc./Vashistha Degree of a university established by law in India with at least second division (50% marks) in aggregate or 45% marks or honors in the subject in sought are eligible. A candidate who was passed B.A class is sought are eligible.
PGDCA Self Finance
Bachelor Degree in any decipiline with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidates) from a university established by law in India.
BCA Self Finance
Any examination of a University / Board / College or School in a foreign country is recognized as equivalent for the above purpose by the Vice-Chancellor/Equivalence committee with 50% marks (45% in the case of SC /ST candidates).
B.Ed Self Finance
The candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree (Medical / Non-medical / Commerce / Arts) and/or in the Master’s Degree in the Sciences /Social Sciences / Humanities/ Commerce, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, and 45 percent marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped categories in the aforesaid Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree and 50% marks for Bachelor’s in Engineering or technology from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission in the program.
BBA Self Finance
Any examination of a university / Board / College or School in a foreign country is recognized as equivalent for the above purpose by the Vice-Chancellor/Equivalence committee with 50% marks (45% in the case of SC /ST candidates).
B.Sc
