WRS Government College, Dehri started in 1971 is affiliated college situated at Fatehpur, Kangra – Himachal Pradesh. Stretched over a colossal land of 25.3 acres this is a government institution which has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Thus the college provides students with a wide choice of 23 courses in five degrees and educates 2 543 students in total. In the current faculty, the college has 14 faculties which have a clear focus towards the quality associated with their education provision in Commerce, Sciences and Arts. Namely, WRS Government College, Dehri boasts a wide range of subjects and guarantees students’ overall development.

WRS Government College has numerous facilities whose purpose is to complement learning and development of every learner. A well stocked library has a collection of 8120 books on various subjects and different periodicals and newspapers of regional and national importance are subscribed to. The institution boasts of well equipped laboratories in Chemistry, Physics Botany and Zoology these being a necessity supporting practical lessons. In technology enhanced education there is an Information Technology section equipped with forty computers, two laptops all of which are connected to broadband internet services. There is also a boys’ hostel, which can house 104 student, and boarders must be selected on merit among the best performing students in the campus. Other facilities include a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a hall, and a health facility with an alternative clinic. For sports lovers, the college has sports facilities that visitors can use and a special parking area intended for faculty, staff, students only.

WRS Government College, Dehri provides a vast majority of the undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses for the students. The institution offers twenty three programmes that are all full time programmes offered in the institution. These include B.Com, B.Sc Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Application and B.A Economics, Journalism and Mass Communication, Sanskrit, Geography etc… In fact, the college offers masters degree in Arts and Science where the two Master of Arts and Master of Science programmes offered are in Economics and Mathematics respectively. The total approved student intake in all courses stands at 2,543 as a confirmation of the college’s ability to accommodate many students.

The admission process at WRS Government College Dehri is generally competitive in nature and students deserving sufficient opportunities to follow their stream of interest. For undergraduate programmes, the admission requirements include: credit in five subjects as per norms mentioned above from the 10 + 2 examinations. MA and M.Sc programmes for admission in post graduate courses are purely merit based on performance at previous bachelor’s degree .Specified data relating to scholarships is not available, however, the college, being a governmental institution offers scholarships to its students as dictated by the state’s government policies on student’s funding. WRS Government College, Dehri remains relevant today as it was in the past contributing immensely to the educational sector across the region by offering quality education to students who cannot afford high cost education.
